Histology Technologist
Ocala, FL - Full-time - No Weekends

Expected Task:
· Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.
· Assure positive sample, block and slide identification Prepare and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
· Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
· Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
· Utilize independent judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance.
· Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
· Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
Experience Requirements:
· Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples.
· Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist.
· Demonstrate good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens.
· General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent communication, team work and organizational skills.
· Ability to train others Effective and proactive problem solving and decision-making skills
· High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience OR High School Diploma.
· Completion of an accredited program in Histo-technology OR Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry National
Certification/Licensure Requirements:

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
Shifts:Days (40 hrs per wk) – No Weekends
Sal range:$30.34/hr min - $42.47/hr max Based on years of experience
